Private Island - Fiji

We love private island trips, and this one is super special!

We’ve hired an entire island in Fiji, so we can get together to relax, explore and let our kids free range without worrying about strangers. Completely free of judgement and expectations.

There’s a pool, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling and lots of opportunities for authentic cultural experiences. There’s even a day spa, massage parlor, bar and golf course!

Our trips are unstructured, with people choosing their own activities depending on the needs and interests of their kids. Every day there are opportunities to do group activities together, but families are welcome to spend as much or as little time with the group as they like.

This trip was one of the most amazing things we did in 2024, and we can’t wait to do it again in 2025!

  • Our trips are designed specifically for families.

We want kids to have the time of their lives and we want adults to have the kind of relaxing holiday that just isn’t possible if you’re stressing about entertaining kids the whole time.

You’ll be on the island with other Bold Gorilla families and a trip co-ordinator, who will suggest activities, make sure everything runs smoothly and help the kids get to know each other.

We’ll also set up a private group chat for people who are going on the trip, so that everyone can get to know each other before it starts and share photos along the way.

  • We’ll be on the island for five nights, from 31 August - 5 September, 2025

  • If you have kids in your life and you’re keen to make amazing memories and show them the world - this is for you.

Please note though, this experience is mainly aimed at kids. If you’re looking for a super quiet island holiday, this probably isn’t for you. There will definitely be lots of kids playing, yelling and having a noisy good time around the pool, on the beach and at each other’s bures.

Also please note that nature comes first on the island, so there may be geckos, crabs and other native creatures around. The island is their home, so it’s important to go into the experience knowing that they’ll be around.

Many of the people who join our trips are homeschoolers, but families with school kids are very welcome too.

Our trips are not the usual group tours. Everything is built around giving kids an opportunity to make friends, have amazing educational experiences and travel at their own pace.

  • As with all of our trips, you’re welcome to join in as much or as little as you like. It’s totally up to you.

Everything is very flexible. We understand that some people love to be constantly on the go and surrounded by friends, and others need time to themselves and rest days to recharge.

We just want everyone to have an amazing holiday, feel comfortable and have a memorable experience with their kids.

  • The largest bure can accommodate a maximum of five people. Most can accommodate four. There is one villa that can accommodation larger families.

  • There will be 10 - 15 families on the island

  • The island has a swimming pool, dive shop, gym, day spa and massage bure, low tide golf course, restaurant and bar. Wifi is available free of charge and a laundry service is available.

  • Suva is the closest airport. It’s about a half hour drive from the boat ramp. The boat ride takes about half an hour.

If you would rather fly to Nadi, that’s not a problem. We’ll organise a private shuttle bus for you from Nadi to Suva, with other families who are also going on the trip.

  • One of our experienced support workers will join us on the trip and will be available to babysit or provide support. We will need to organise this with families individually in advance, to ensure that she can accommodate everyone’s needs.
